The Air Force Inns Promise:

When personal items are accidentally left behind in guests rooms,  items will be tagged and turned into the Front Desk’s Lost and Found.

Guests will be contacted to retrieve their belongings. If the guests would like their belongings to be mailed, guests must provide $10 + payment

for shipping and materials costs. Items will be held for 30 days.  After 30 days, they will be donated to a worthy organization.

All personal toiletries, cosmetics,  and food items will be discarded immediately.

The Rocky Mountain Lodge provides daily housekeeping services thus “Do Not Disturb” (DND) signs are provided for your convenience.

If you would like to receive housekeeping services, your DND sign must be removed before 11am.

Housekeeping services must be accomplished at least every three days. If the DND sign is up for three days, housekeepers are required to enter the room for service and inspections.

In Accordance with AFMAN 34-135: “Housekeeping or lodging management will enter a guests room that has had a “Do Not Disturb” sign showing for three consecutive days.”

This policy is for your safety and security.

A relic of Denver’s City Beautiful period, this 155-acre (63-hectare) park is home to two formal gardens, one of which is a replica of George Washington’s garden at Mount Vernon. The park is always full of walkers, joggers, and bicyclists taking advantage of the trails and roads that encompass and dissect the entire grounds. Fishing on the park’s two lakes is popular and there are also greens for lawn bowling, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, plenty of space for volleyball games and a recreation center with an indoor pool.

After spending 104 years tucked away in northwest Denver, Elitch Gardens moved from its longtime home on 38th and Tennyson to a spacious downtown site, which allowed it to add state-of-the-art rides, such as the free-falling Tower of Doom and the Sidewinder. Besides the more than 50 rides, there are numerous shows, shopping outlets and eateries to keep the family entertained. In addition, in the summer you can alternate between the numerous roller coasters and the neighboring mammoth water park. While the gilded dome of this building may attract the attention of visitors, the history and stunning architectural features inside hold their real interest. Standing precisely one mile above sea level, its observation deck offers impressive views of Denver, the Rocky Mountains, and the surrounding plains. At Colorado State Capitol Building, you can get your fill of local history by scanning the murals on the first floor and the onyx busts of Denver’s important historical figures. Be sure to also take a tour of the impressive House and Senate chambers. Guided tours are available and admission is free.

This preserved park features three barns complete with chicken coops and root cellars on 12 acres (8.5 hectares) of land. Children can pan for gold or pick a pumpkin in season. Carriage rides are available for the entire family on weekends. The park provides guided tours of an original the Four Mile House, the oldest standing home in the city. There are four mints in the United States, but the Denver Mint is one of only two (the other is the Philadelphia Mint) where we can actually see the process of turning lumps of metal into shiny coins. The Denver Mint stamps billions of coins each year, and each has a small D on it. Although visitors today don’t get as close as they once did, a self-guided tour along the visitors’ gallery provides a good look at the process, with a bird’s-eye view from the mezzanine of the actual coin-minting process.

This five-floor museum is wonderfully diverse and is at the forefront of offering new exhibits. In the past, it has featured impressionist artists as well as the work of Winslow Homer. This museum brags – and rightfully so – about housing the largest art collection between Kansas City and the West Coast. Its Native American art collection, which encompasses an entire floor, is not to be missed. In addition, 2006 heralded the dedication of a new wing of the museum. Designed by Daniel Libeskind, the Frederic C. Hamilton building adds to the already stunning architecture of the cityscape and has become a popular attraction for museum visitors.

A retrospective of Colorado’s unique and important painter, Vance Kirkland, and the works of over 150 other 20th century Colorado artists are also on view. The Colorado Historical Society’s permanent exhibits include “The Colorado Chronicle,” an 1800-to-1949 timeline that uses biographical plaques and a remarkable collection of photographs, news clippings, and paraphernalia to illustrate Colorado’s past. Dozens of dioramas portray episodes in state history, including an intricate re-creation of 19th-century Denver. Among the other standouts, “Ancient Voices” and “Confluence of Cultures” are slickly produced multimedia exhibits dedicated to the history of Colorado’s native tribes and the state’s Pioneer era, respectively. The museum offers a series of lectures and
statewide historical and archaeological tours.

Located just northeast of Denver and only 14 miles from Buckley, the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, approximately a 15,000-acre expanse of shortgrass prairie, has survived the test of time and transitioned from farmland, to war-time manufacturing site, to wildlife sanctuary. The Refuge provides environmental education and interpretive programs, catch-and-release recreational fee fishing, nearly nine miles of trails, wildlife viewing opportunities/site tours, and is a sanctuary for more than 330 species of animals, including wild bison, deer, coyotes, bald eagles and burrowing owls.
